Dead zones created in electrostatic filter systems undoubtedly cause disruption of filtration continuity. Like many places, filter chutes have their own bottleneck in the discharge where the material easily tends to self-block, especially ash from boiler dust removal. An additional essence of this installation is operation at elevated temperature.
Client problems
Formation of overhangs and dead zones on the walls in the lower parts of the chute. The material that causes problems is ash from the boiler dust removal with a maximum temperature of 130 degrees. The problem was solved in various ways, including lining with basalt plates, but this turned out to be an ineffective solution. Changing the surface, which can sometimes bring a good result, in this case unfortunately also the surface roughness itself is not everything.
Challenges
An undoubted difficulty is always making holes in concrete walls with a lining. The time allocated for making such a hole is significantly longer, which undoubtedly translates into a longer implementation time. The advantage was relatively easy access to the walls.
Additional challenges included:
- efficient coordination of work between subcontractors,
- maintaining the highest quality of activities,
Work at every stage of the project had to be carried out with the highest quality due to the precise fit of all elements.
- Site inspection, talks with the service and determination of the locations for installing the pulse nozzles;
- Pulse nozzle installation placed on 2 concrete chutes (2 x 48 nozzles VA-51C);
- Starting and adjusting the nozzle operation algorithm to the prevailing conditions while reducing the consumption of compressed air
- Pulse nozzles VA51C – 96 pieces
- Special assembly elements using MPS series elements – screwed assembly elements
- Control cabinets based on Siemens SIMATIC programmable relays
What did we do in the project?
We designed the installation along with the nozzle layout. We used our experience from implementations related to the transport of materials of similar characteristics. The installation design primarily included the dedicated installation of the pulse nozzle system and the local control system.
